De Wand
Wall painting at Cultural Centre Strombeek, commissioned by Luk Lambrecht.
De Wand (The Wall) is a project space designated to be painted on by various artists. Its seven metre long wall connecting the cafe and bar of Cultural Centre Strombeek to its exhibition space and performance arts hall draws a bridge between exhibition goers and visitors from the neighbourhood who usually hang out by the bar next to De Wand.
Cultural Centre Strombeek as an institution is dedicated to the social function of art, and serves a dual role as both a platform for the arts and a community centre. They do an amazing job at connecting the local community of Strombeek to contemporary art by generously giving guided tours of the exhibitions while not making concessions in their curatorial program.
This wall painting was made with egg tempera during a working period of 9 days.
